Welcome to the Saplings website! Saplings is a literary magazine (available in print and digital formats) featuring the writing, illustrating, and photography talents of North and South Carolina youth. Our volunteer staff are students from grades 5 to 11 at LifeSpring Academy in Clayton, North Carolina.
This magazine is the brain child of Melissa Taylor, a North Carolina author and LifeSpring Academy teacher. For more information about Melissa, check out her author website at www.melissamtaylor.com. Please support us by ordering copies, sharing them, and telling others about Saplings! Follow us on Facebook for regular updates about our newest issue and fundraisers. Just click the link in the top right corner. Why Saplings? Two things you never find a shortage of in the Carolinas are trees and young people. Saplings are no longer seeds but are also not fully grown trees. They are in between and so are the young artists Saplings reaches out to. Our magazine publishes art and writing by young people ages 10 to 18. Best of all, Saplings is meant for all readers who appreciate what's sprouting out there among our young people. |
